Accidents and losses are stressful enough. Here's what to do first, what to have ready, and how we help from the first call to a closed claim.

After an accident or loss

01

Get safe first

Make sure everyone is okay. If anyone is hurt or the scene is dangerous, call 911 before anything else.

02

Document what you can

Photos, names, and details while they're fresh. For car accidents, swap license and insurance info with the other driver.

03

Call us

Call or text (585) 329-1706. We'll report the claim with you, explain what happens next, and stay on it until it's resolved.

What to have ready.

You don't need all of this to start a claim, but the more you have, the faster things move:

Your policy number, or just your name and we'll find it
Photos of the damage
The date, time, and what happened
A police or incident report number, if there is one
Receipts or records for anything damaged or stolen

Questions we hear a lot

Should I file a claim or pay out of pocket?

It depends on the size of the loss and your deductible. Call us before you file. We'll do the math with you and give you a straight answer.

Do I call you or the insurance company?

Call us first. We know the carriers and the process, and we'll make sure the claim starts on the right foot. If you'd rather call the carrier directly, that works too.

How long does a claim take?

Simple claims can wrap up in days. Bigger ones take longer. Either way, we'll keep you posted so you're never left wondering.

Will my rate go up after a claim?

Sometimes, at renewal. If it does, that's when being independent helps. We can shop your policy across carriers and find the best landing spot.
